Teens & Youth Therapy

"It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are."- E.E Cummings.

Approach

The therapists of In Motion Counseling all have extensive experience working with teens and youth. Teens are in the stage of development where they are figuring out their values, beliefs, and themselves. They are searching for both guidance and independence. We understand that being a teenager has many challenges. Bullying, social media, peer pressure, and academics are some of the reasons that youth struggle with mental health challenges. 1 in 5 teens report having mental health issues that include depression and self-injury, anxiety, school refusal, oppositional defiance. We also provide help to teens who are exploring their gender identity, are gender non-conforming, and/or identify as LGBTQI.

We help teens by teaching them skills to manage these stressors. We address and challenge the thoughts, feelings, and actions that are getting in the way of your teen’s growth. We provide a non-judgemental space where teens can talk about school- either academic pressure or learning disabilities. Several of our therapists have worked in schools and understand the special education process as well. Our clinicians can also attend IEP and 504 meetings in addition to any other school meetings.

We allow teens to also process issues at home- including parental separation or family conflict. Our therapists can include parents and caregivers in the process. Reach out and let us know how we can help you and your teen info@inmotioncounseling.com
